A lot of people suck at Karaoke. Here’s what you can do so you won’t.

Sing with no shame

Sometimes, confidence is all it takes, the Standard says. If you have a voice like Oscar the Grouch but you’ve got the moves and confidence to croon like Bruno Mars, then you’ll be all set. You won’t have a shortage of people cheering you on.

Know the lyrics

That’s going to matter a lot. You can’t wing it if you don’t know the words. It might be acceptable to lose the tune a time or two but if you know the words, then you’ll still know what to do.

Prepare a little

There’s nothing worse than watching someone stride confidently to take the mic, only for the song to start and see that they haven’t got a single clue what to do. Don’t want those pity stares on you? Then practice a bit. Up your karaoke game by making up a list of the songs you can sing so you won’t pick anything that might embarrass you.

Pick the bar

Look for a professional karaoke bar, one with excellent acoustics and a nice, comfortable room. If you and your friends love to sing till the early hours of the dawn, then you’ll need a bar that operates that late.

Avoid cold drinks

You’ll want to baby your voice and throat throughout the night. Request for warm water.

Order food

You’re going to need sustenance. That’s why it’s essential to pick a professional karaoke bar that serves great food as well. That way, you and your friends can keep belting out show tunes without any worries. If you start getting any hunger pangs, you know you’ll only need to put in an order to get the food you want delivered to your private room.
